Elfrida Art Center - Bringing Art and People Together
About Us

Elizabeth Shuler-Pointer, of ES Arts, is the Director of Elfrida Art Center Inc., which is located at the corner of Aspen and Thistle in Elfrida, AZ. The building is a privately-owned residence, belonging to the family of the Director's husband, to be used by the citizens of Elfrida as a format for teaching, learning and enjoying many forms of art.

The Center, which has been in operation since 2005, has managed to attract a large number of persons: youth (ages 7-12), teens and adult students/volunteer instructors. All lessons for youth, ages 7-12, are free and will continue to remain so. Adult students offer monetary donations which go toward payment of utilities to keep the Center open. Areas of the Center are available for display and/or sale of works by local area artisans in almost any type of medium. One wall has been set aside to highlight art by Valley Union High School and Elementary School students.

For the first four years, funding for the supplies for the students was donated by The Friends of Western Art. Now classes are assured of being kept free by the continued support of The Friends of Western Art as well as by generous donations of local citizens and businesses. The artisans associated with the Center have worked very hard to maintain the tradition of available and free classes for the youth, who get to take their supplies home at the end of the year. The Center has provided the basis for two scholarships in the past years given by The Friends of Western Art, who is still available to help with scholarships in the future. Future plans are to seek additional funding from other sources in order to provide even more opportunities for scholarships, and to encourage elementary age students to explore various forms of art.

Donations from the public are always appreciated and will assist us in keeping future classes for the youth free.

The Center will continue to provide a place for teens to show their artistic endeavors in their own home town and to allow adult artisans to explore new venues and showcase their works.

The Center sponsors the annual Fine Arts, Judged Show and Sale each spring and plans to continue to do so. For information regarding membership, please send an email to: elfridaartcenter@yahoo.com or fill out our online membership form.
